A New Beginning
The story starts nineteen years after the last Harry Potter book. Harry Potter is now a grown-up and works at the Ministry of Magic. He is married to Ginny Weasley, and they have three children. Their middle child, Albus Severus Potter, is about to start school at Hogwarts.
On the train to school, Albus becomes best friends with Scorpius Malfoy, the son of Draco Malfoy. This is surprising because Harry and Draco were enemies when they were young.
Albus Feels Different
At Hogwarts, Albus is sorted into Slytherin House, not Gryffindor like his father. He struggles in school, feels like he’s not good enough, and doesn’t enjoy being "the son of Harry Potter." His friendship with Scorpius grows stronger, but his relationship with his father becomes worse.
A Secret Plan to Fix the Past
Albus learns about a magical object called a Time-Turner that can take people into the past. He hears that Cedric Diggory (who died in the Triwizard Tournament) might have been saved. Albus thinks that if he can save Cedric, he can do something good and make his father proud.
Albus and Scorpius steal the Time-Turner and go back in time to try to stop Cedric’s death.
Changing the Past Creates New Problems
Each time they go back and change something in the past, the present becomes worse:

In one version, Cedric becomes angry and joins the dark side.

In another, Voldemort wins the war, and Harry is dead.

Albus and Scorpius realize they made a big mistake.
A New Enemy: Delphi
They discover that a girl named Delphi, who helped them, is actually Voldemort’s daughter. She wants to bring her father back by stopping him from dying in the past. Delphi is very powerful and dangerous.
She captures Albus and plans to go back to the night Voldemort tried to kill baby Harry, so she can help him win.
Stopping the Final Plan
Albus and Scorpius send a message through time to warn Harry and the others. Harry, Hermione, Ron, Ginny, and Draco go back in time to stop Delphi. Harry pretends to be Voldemort to trick her.
In the end, they stop Delphi, protect the past, and return safely to the present.
A Better Understanding
After all this, Harry and Albus finally talk honestly. Harry learns to listen better, and Albus learns that he doesn't have to be just like his father. Their bond becomes stronger.
The End
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is about friendship, family, growing up, and accepting who you are. It shows that even though we can’t change the past, we can always try to make the present better.
