The Lightning Thief
Percy Jackson is a 12-year-old boy who struggles with school and feels like an outsider. One day, he discovers he’s actually a demigod — the son of Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea. When his human mother is attacked by a monster, Percy escapes to Camp Half-Blood, a safe place for demigods. At camp, Percy comes to know that Zeus’s master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Zeus believes Percy is the thief. To stop a war between the gods, Percy goes on a quest with his friends Annabeth (daughter of Athena) and Grover (a satyr) to find the real thief and return the bolt. Their journey takes them across the United States, facing monsters and traps from Greek mythology. They eventually discover that the real thief is Luke, a fellow camper, who has turned against the gods and is working for the Titan Kronos. Percy returns the bolt to Zeus, prevents a war, and begins to accept his identity and responsibilities as a demigod.
